How secure is your company really? For small and medium-sized companies, the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) commissioned the CyberRisikoCheck to DIN SPEC 27076, a standardised IT security audit for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Before any further steps, assessments or certifications, the check serves to determine where you stand and provides valuable pointers to sensible measures.
In an interview of about 2-3 hours, 27 requirements from six topic areas are systematically recorded and evaluated using the official BSI software. You receive an understandable results report with overall and partial ratings as well as prioritised, practical recommendations, handed over in a personal, detailed conversation.

Process
- Structured interview
Two to three hour interview with management, IT leadership or your external IT service provider based on a predefined questionnaire.
- Evaluation
Analysis using the official BSI software according to DIN SPEC 27076.

Personal walkthrough of the report with concrete recommendations for action.

Scope
The cyber risk check covers the following areas:
Review of management as well as employee competence and awareness.
Assessment of the security mechanisms behind the information and communication technology in use.
Review of access and entry permissions for physical and virtual areas.
Assessment of protection against malicious software.
Review of the availability and currency of the hardware and software in use.
Review of responsibility, scope, frequency and availability of data and its backups.

- Participation of management and the responsible IT person
- For online delivery: internet access and participation in video conferences
